Calculating Need
The financial information from your FAFSA application is analyzed to determine your Expected Family Contribution (EFC)/Student Aid Index (SAI). Factors determining the EFC/SAI include annual income, assets, and family size. Your financial need is the difference between the EFC/SAI and the COA. Financial Need is used to determine eligibility for federal student aid and other aid requiring specific need criteria be met.
